|| Farmers State Bank understands that the security of your personal and account information is important to you. We also understand that our continued success as a financial institution relies on both our ability to offer banking services to you in a secure manner as well as your responsibility in keeping any access codes, passwords or PINs secure. To assist us in offering these Web-based banking services in a secure manner, we employ a number of measures which are described below. These measures allow us, among other benefits, to properly authenticate your identity when you access these services and protect your information as it travels the Internet between your PC and Farmers State Bank.
Login Protection For the FSB NetTeller User
Every user must privately maintain a combination of a password and User ID to use the FSB NetTeller system. Because the user is assigned the original password by the bank, FSB NetTeller requires the user to change the password on initial login to the system and before any transactions can be requested. This requires the user to establish an absolutely private password. If the password is lost or forgotten, you may follow the onscreen instructions to reset your password or the bank will be able to reset as default password for the user once Farmers State Bank has confirmed your identity.
Three Strikes And You're Out
If an unauthorized person attempts entry into a user's account by trying to guess a User ID or password, FSB NetTeller will disable the password on the third incorrect attempt, thus disabling the login combination. If you accidentally activate this security feature by incorrectly inputting a password three times, you may use the link under Frequently Asked Questions, "What happens if I forget my password?" to access our online feature to reset your password, or you may contact Farmers State Bank to re-enable the password for that account. For example, a common mistake made by the user is to have the CAPS-LOCK turned on while keying in a password.
To further protect you, a time-out feature is built into the FSB NetTeller program. This feature will automatically log you out of the current session after a 10 minute period of inactivity.
Secure Browser Requirement
Farmers State Bank also requires the use of secure browsers to protect you while you access our online financial services. More specifically, the personal and account information that flows back and forth between your PC and FSB NetTeller must be encrypted while in transit-secure browsers are how we achieve this level of protection. Encryption is the process of scrambling information so that it can only be reassembled in its original text format by someone who has the correct encryption key to do so. When used between you and FSB NetTeller, this technology encrypts your personal information as you send it to us, and vice versa, so that only you or the bank can read it. You can check to see if your browser is compliant with this standard by using the "check your browser security" link located under the login box on your home page.
Farmers State Bank strongly recommends that any customer who desires to access the Bank's online financial services have installed on their access PC a full featured firewall program as well as a strong anit-virus application. These programs, if properly installed and maintained, will help protect you and your personal information by detecting and stopping malicious software from the Internet from infecting your machine and possibly compromising your protections. In addition, the bank also recommends the use of spyware and adware detection scanners to complete your arsenal of tools to protect your personal information.
